Program Description:
This program will allow a new opportunity for students to experience and learn about South American Culture. This program will also be an opportunity to give students a new way to experience the adventure sports WCU already offers by allowing them to participate in beginner level hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and mountain biking abroad. Students will develop a strong connection to nature by experiencing a vast array of bio diversity ranging from rafting and hiking through the Amazon jungle to trekking and riding through the backdrop of mountains including the Tunguranga Volcano. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience a city tour of Quito and opportunities to dine and explore. The design of this program will engage students directly with local communities and give ample opportunity for social interaction with those living in Ecuador.
Quito, Tena, Llangantes National Park, Banos, and Cotopaxi, Ecuador
While participating on this program, students will be housed in shared hotel rooms for 7 nights and will be camping for 1 night.
All activities on this program will be conducted in English.  No prior knowledge of Spanish is required for participation.
This program is a non-credit adventure program available to WCU students. The program itinerary is fully scheduled and action-packed so students will not have the opoportunity to travel on their own while participating on this program.
All participants on this program will be billed a Program Fee of $1,453 which includes lodging, transportation to the airport, in-country travel, some group meals, park fees, equipment rentals, and all administrative/tour guide fees. In addition, all applicants will be billed the non-refundable $100 study abroad application fee upon applying to the program and will be required to purchase WCU's mandatory international insurance policy (estimated around $25).

Not included in the costs listed above are the round-trip airfare (estimated around $1,350), passport/visa fees, and additional meals not provided as part of the program (estimated around $275).
